BE FAITHFUL TO THE END

Revelations 2:8-11(AMP)
And to the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Smyrna write: These are the words of the First and the Last, Who died and came to life again: 9 I know your affliction and distress and pressing trouble and your poverty—but you are rich! and how you are abused and reviled and slandered by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Fear nothing that you are about to suffer. [Dismiss your dread and your fears!] Behold, the devil is indeed about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested and proved and critically appraised, and for ten days you will have affliction. Be loyally faithful unto death [even if you must die for it], and I will give you the crown of life. 11 He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). He who overcomes (is victorious) shall in no way be injured by the second death.

The Lord once impressed this on me. If you were to meet your lover at a particular time of the day for dinner, you will do everything possible not to be late. The Lord was teaching me about faithfulness to Him. God requires us to be faithful in prayer, bible study, worship, tithing, giving. All those who walked with God in the bible were faithful. The bible says Moses was faithful in his household. Abraham was faithful to The Lord. Jephthah, David...... If we have purposed to meet with God in prayer at 5am every day we should be faithful with that. We cant wake up at 5 today and 7 the next morning. God deserves the best. If we have purposed to study our bible for an hour a day we should be faithful. We should either stick to the hour or yearn to increase the hours. If we receive our income we shouldn't go on a shopping spree before we tithe. Tithing is also called first fruit. The Lord taught The people of Israel to bring the first fruit of their increase. The Lord once told me that many do not receive blessings from tithes because they do not tithe properly. We should remember God is faithful and He requires we remain faithful to Him.

If a wife/husband remains faithful for 364 days and commits fornication just a day will he/she be considered as faithful? Certainly not. Often we are quick to point out the lukewarmness in the lives of others but we forget we are also lukewarm. Do you think that the unfaithful or lukewarm Christian is the one who goes around fornicating? Friends we better examine our lives. I see many on facebook telling others to repent. Repentance is not a bad call but the truth is there are many here who are not faithful in their walk with God. Are you faithful in prayer? Are you faithful in evangelism? I'm not talking about evangelising ones in a blue moon. Are you faithful in tithing and giving offerings? Are you faithful serving in the house of God?

Even in your workplace are you faithful? Many people complain about the economic hardship around the globe. People have flimsy excuses for not going to work. These same people are the first to bash authorities for their economic misfortunes but I'm yet to see someone say I absented myself from work for no tangible reason so deduct that day's wages from my gross. Friends, going around spreading news that one should repent is not bad but we should remember that repentance is broad and it covers every act of unrighteousness. Do you think the only one who needs to repent is that drunkard behind your house or that guy who goes around chasing ladies?

If we are faithful in the little things then God can entrust us with more. When The Lord addressed the 7churches in Asia minor, one of the issues that he highlighted was unfaithfulness. The church in Ephesus' love had grown cold. They had become lukewarm. They had ceased from their first works. The Ephesus church had become unfaithful in their walk with The Lord.
Revelations 2:2-7
To the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Ephesus write: These are the words of Him Who holds the seven stars [which are the messengers of the seven churches] in His right hand, Who goes about among the seven golden lampstands [which are the seven churches]:
2 I know your industry and activities, laborious toil and trouble, and your patient endurance, and how you cannot tolerate wicked [men] and have tested and critically appraised those who call [themselves] apostles (special messengers of Christ) and yet are not, and have found them to be impostors and liars.
3 I know you are enduring patiently and are bearing up for My name’s sake, and you have not fainted or become exhausted or grown weary.
4 But I have this [one charge to make] against you: that you have left (abandoned) the love that you had at first [you have deserted Me, your first love].
5 Remember then from what heights you have fallen. Repent (change the inner man to meet God’s will) and do the works you did previously [when first you knew the Lord], or else I will visit you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you change your mind and repent.
6 Yet you have this [in your favor and to your credit]: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans [what they are doing as corrupters of the people], which I Myself also detest.
7 He who is able to hear, let him listen to and give heed to what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). To him who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant to eat [of the fruit] of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

The seven churches in Asia minor represents the spiritual state of the churches worldwide. The only church that was qualified to inherit glory was the church in Philadelphia. Sometimes we are quick to bash churches that are reminiscent of the Laodicean church but we forget one way or the other we have an element of lukewarmness in our lives. Strangely many of God's people do not realise they are unfaithful as a result it renders them in the lukewarm category. It is evident that The Lord's coming is imminent. The Lord has spoken to a lot of people including myself about the imminence of His coming. Friend, when He comes will He find a faithful bride? When He comes will you be among the majority who shout "rapture"? Friends don't be deceived. The Lord is coming very soon but you also ought to do your homework well. In late 2010 and early 2011 I was so enthused about The Lord's coming. When The Lord started testing me I failed many of my tests.I realised there was much work to be done in me.

Many want to be raptured but they are not faithful in their walk with God. Only a faithful bride will make it in the rapture. Friend, use this period of grace to work on your unfaithfulness. Faithfulness is the 7th fruit of the Spirit. I don't know why Paul listed faithfulness as the 7th fruit but it has a meaning. Biblically 7 represents perfection. Friend, use this hour of grace to be perfected in faithfulness. Many claim they are rapture ready but they will be surprised that they will be left here when the trumpet sounds. How many are praying to God to heal their unfaithfulness? How many are praying to God to heal their backsliding? Don't follow the majority. Their messages may feel good but at the end of the day you should remember we will account on individual basis. We can only be assured of the rapture if we are abounding in the 9 fruits of the Spirit. Friend, you got to persevere to the end. You have to remain faithful to the point of death and this is only possible through spending time and surrendering to Him on a daily basis. Let Him break you so He can mould you.

A DREAM VISIT TO HEAVEN

About two weeks ago I had a dream visit to heaven. Actually this is not my first visit. I knew it was heaven because its quiet easy to understand things in the spiritual world than the physical. I was shown the mansion of a very beloved brother in The Lord who is devoted. His mansion was very big but it wasn't tall. It was decorated with gold. I don't know why his mansion wasn't tall. It looked like the White House thats how best I can describe it. My friend looked at the mansion with great disappointment written all over his face. I also felt disappointed because I knew he was devoted to the things of God so I asked myself if he has not been able to put up a tall mansion then how about me?

YOU DO NOT BELONG THERE. COME BACK HOME!

Luke 15:11-24.
11 And He said, There was a certain man who had two sons;
12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the part of the property that falls [to me]. And he divided the estate between them.
13 And not many days after that, the younger son gathered up all that he had and journeyed into a distant country, and there he wasted his fortune in reckless and loose [from restraint] living.
14 And when he had spent all he had, a [a]mighty famine came upon that country, and he began to fall behind and be in want.
15 So he went and forced (glued) himself upon one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed hogs.
16 And he would gladly have fed on and [b]filled his belly with the [c]carob pods that the hogs were eating, but [they could not satisfy his hunger and] nobody gave him anything [better].
17 Then when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father have enough food, and [even food] to spare, but I am perishing (dying) here of hunger!
18 I will get up and go to my father, and I will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight.
19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; [just] make me like one of your hired servants.
20 So he got up and came to his [own] father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with pity and tenderness [for him]; and he ran and embraced him and kissed him [[d]fervently].
21 And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son [I no longer deserve to be recognized as a son of yours]!
22 But the father said to his bond servants, Bring quickly the best robe (the festive robe of honor) and put it on him; and give him a ring for his hand and sandals for his feet.
23 And bring out [e]that [wheat-]fattened calf and kill it; and let us [f]revel and feast and be happy and make merry,
24 Because this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found! And they began to [g]revel and feast and make merry.

The parable of the prodigal son shows how shambolic we become when we leave God's presence and God's love and clemency towards us. This account talks about the life of a very rich father who is having a harmonious life with his two sons and his servants. The father enjoys the communion with his sons. One of the sons is captivated by the father's riches and he chooses the riches over the sweet relationship he is enjoying with the father. He leaves to a far land, squanders what he has. He later realises his folly. He decides to smoke the peace pipe with his father by returning to him in humility.  This parable is a clear illustration of our relationship with God. It depicts two kinds of believers. The first is the unfaithful believer who gets carried away by his gifting and easily gets corrupted by the world. The second son is an epitome of a believer who loves the Lord genuinely and is well rooted in Him. He is faithful in all situations.

Many of us had a harmonious relationship with The Lord when we accepted Him into our lives. We were willing to forgo our favorite tv shows for prayer. We were willing to switch off the tele and forfeit our favorite sporting events just to be in His presence. His joy was our joy. His pain was our pain. Then we began to grow in Him. The Lord began to bless us, shape us and give us spiritual gifts which we never expected or dreamed of. Some got so mesmerised with their gifting that they began to idolise it asking for more, and seeking less of the giver. Gradually they began to take their focus of God and started to be attention seekers. Their actions showed that they didn’t need God. They gradually drifted from The Lord and finally decided to flirt with the world.

They will chase after the things of the world which they abhorred initially. They will join the world to mock the cross. They will use their gifts and resources to draw attention to themselves instead of God. Prayer dies. Bible study is nonexistent. They despise other believers and feel comfortable with the world hoping that their gifts will keep them to stand the hostility of the world. They forget that the source of their blessing has been cut off and they live in delusion. Any time we seek blessings and gifts at the expense of an intimacy with God that's the price we pay.

The rebellious believer begins to feel and see the wickedness of the world. There is no more oil to fuel his gifts. His blessings are cut off. His gifts gradually get corrupted. He begins to feel the isolation the world has for him. All his lovers in the world live him in his depressing state. He begins to move around if he can find spiritual nourishment. At this stage some will go to some churches or cults to find refuge only to find their souls still hungry. If it is a church, some may enter churches that preach watered down sermons. The rebellious believer now comes to his senses. He recalls the intimate relationship he had with God. He remembers the peace he enjoyed. Now he is contemplating. He looks spiritually unkempt. He is fully of bruises. His spiritual garment is torn and stained. He is filled with the odour of the world. He looks wretched but he is still hopeful.
 Isaiah 1:4-6
4 Ah, sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, sons who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the Lord, they have despised and shown contempt and provoked the Holy One of Israel to anger, they have become utterly estranged (alienated).
5 Why should you be stricken and punished any more [since it brings no correction]? You will revolt more and more. The whole head is sick, and the whole heart is faint (feeble, sick, and nauseated).
6 From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness or health in [the nation’s body]—but wounds and bruises and fresh and bleeding stripes; they have not been pressed out and closed up or bound up or softened with oil. [No one has troubled to seek a remedy.
]The rebellious believer makes a decision to go back to God. He humbles himself. He is willing to take up any position in the kingdom of God. He takes a bold state and goes back to God. God in His great love and mercy accepts him, forgives and restores him.

What lesson are we learning from this parable? Any time we seek God's blessings instead of a walk with God, we are likely to lose focus on Him. The devil will begin to sow pride and greed in our hearts just to get our attention. When this happens we are likely to seek our own way. We are likely to turn a deaf ear to fellow believers. We reach the stage where we want praises from people. We become people centred and not God centred. We need God's grace to walk daily. His word and prayer is our fuel. If we neglect these and look at our gifts it may appear that we have a source of power initially but we will soon fade out and fall for the world. We would eventually corrupt ourselves, promoting the kingdom of the devil and fighting God's kingdom. Eventually we will be stealing his tithes by lavishing it on the nonsense of the world. We will begin to patronise licentious materials. Our hearts will grow cold and we will start slandering, criticising and backbiting God's people. Our hearts will be full of envy and hatred instead of love. We will bear bad fruits because we will not be feeding from Him. We will not be partaking of the bread of life. Even in our rebellious and backsliding state God still calls. Sometimes He uses the harsh conditions in the world to draw us closer to us. He may allow the world to exploit us so that we will feel hurt and disappointed.

When He disciplines us we should be quick to discern that He is calling us to come back home. We have to step out bodly and return to Him. If we continue to stay in our rebellious state our conscience will eventually be seared. It doesn't matter how deep you have fallen.  Just humble yourself and get back to God. Take that bold step of faith and return to The Lord. Don't continue to stay in the dung of this world. Don't let your guilt rule your life. His grace is there for you to get things right with Him. His blood is able to cleanse your conscience from dead works. You will ask I have tried so many times and I have failed. Don't give up. Keep on trying. During my rebellious and backsliding days I used to groan in my heart. I was caught in masturbation for 6 years. I was full of self righteousness. When I made a decision to surrender and rededicated my life to the Lord He didn't change me in a day. He continued to nurture me and showed me true love which He still does. Never give up. Persevere and keep on praying. The Lord is willing to accept you back only if you are willing. Just make that decision.

LOVE NOT THE WORLD (EGYPT AND BABYLON)

If one was told that all the banks in the world will collapse in the next two months he will withdraw all his money and will start investing in other businesses to survive during the dark and difficult days. If one was told that yahoo will be closed down in two weeks he will try and retrieve all his relevant files and keep it in his folder so that none will be lost.
What about God? How many of us are seeing the signs around us? How many are listening to His voice? How many of us have been preparing for the dark and difficult days? How many of us are filling our spiritual lamps with enough oil so that our lights will shine in the difficult and dark days?  Men tend to believe the world and its systems more than the word of God. Men seem to love the systems of the world though it oppresses them and demands more than they can give.

1 John 2:15-17
15 Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself].
17 And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever.

If you asked many people what they intend to do with a $1000 they will give you so many answers which will thrill you. Men have excellent ideas in sports, business, education. How about the salvation of many? Many of God’s people do not bother about their salvation. Many do not even bother where they will spend eternity. Eternity rarely crosses the mind of some believers.

 Philippians 2:12
Therefore, my dear ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, [a]with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ).

What is it to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling? Is it going to church every Sunday and sing the nicest hymns just to ease the stress carried from the week? Is it having a high recommendation from your pastor? Is it speaking the gospel with cleverness of speech? None of these put us in a right standing with The Lord. Many gamble salvation.  Salvation is not like game of chess which you can turn in your  favour  through manipulation. Many of God’s people try to operate in God’s kingdom with the mentality of the world. God’s kingdom is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

There are two systems that rule the world currently. The first system is the Egyptian and the second is the Babylonian. How does the Egyptian system work? When the people of Israel settled in Egypt (Goshen) Genesis 46, Egypt looked like a fortress. It looked like a settlement of eternal bliss. As the years passed by Israel began to see the cruelty of Egypt. They were over tasked and their hearts became bitter. When God gave them a deliverer in the person of Moses they rebelled against Him by disdaining Moses. Like the people of Israel many of God’s people still prefer to eat bread of sorrows in Egypt than to pursue the Promised Land. They prefer to remain in their addictions than to go through God’s purifying fire. Egypt in our era lures us into sports, money, fashion, music only to make us more miserable.

The Egyptian system looks flexible from afar but it becomes more rigid as one falls into it. Pharaoh will always arise and oppress people. He will steal the joy of people when they are supposed to walk in liberty. Many of God’s people always find themselves going back to the Egyptian rule after they have been delivered. Egypt does not allow grace. It is all about working as a puppet just to bring back their horses and chariots to tie you down. All this system does is to exploit you just to promote its agenda.

Does the Babylonian system better our lives? This system is quite different from the Egyptian system. It allows a level of grace but under their  own terms. In Daniel 1:1-21 when the people of Israel were taken into exile there was found among the Jews some noble men who were fit to run the affairs of this system. When Daniel and his three friends were taken into exile they were offered the king’s delicacies. It was a way of turning the young men’s hearts away from their God. It was also a plan to cut off their roots. If Daniel had partaken of this He would have died spiritually thus dulling his discernment and nullifying His God given agenda.

The four Hebrew boys were offered Babylonian education just to make them smart and fit into this system perfectly. The Babylonian system unlike the Egyptian system is more cunning. One needs to always stay awake or he will fall into it. One needs to be well skilled or he will be defeated mentally. How can we overcome the Babylonian system in our lives? We need to be skilled soldiers discerning at all times and attacking through prayer and the word.

How does Babylon work in our era? It offers us a wide variety of options to choose from. The system of Babylon teachers us to kowtow to their terms and policies then they will offer us what we want. The strategy of Babylon is aimed at cutting us from God. The illuminati is an epitome of the Babylonian system.  Many of God’s people have fallen deep into this system. This system will promise many that they are educating on sex only to trap people with nudity and and obscene language. Babylon teaches us that we don’t need God and we can do everything on our own. Demons feel good operating in this system because they are able to deceive and manipulate people easily even God’s own people. The churches entertain what they call hip hop gospel. Back in my country Ghana I leant they call a dance Christ Zonto. Many of God’s people are flirting with this system. On Sundays they will advertise sports all around just to get people out of churches and cheer on their teams. They are stealing the word of God from the hearts of his people. They are stealing His glory and many of His people have joined hands to fight Him.

Christian women are even caught in this madness. Many will dress licentiously and justify their sins. It’s sad to see women dressed like harlots in the house of God. What does the scripture say? Isn’t His house supposed to be a house of prayer? Why are many trading in His temple? Why are many causing others to fall? Why are many teaching others to play the harlot? Remember He is a God of retribution. He will clean up the mess in His temple. He is a great king and a dread to sinners.
The Egyptian and Babylonian system operate differently but they all enslave one way or the other. The coming days will be darker and the pleasures of Egypt and Babylon will be more enticing. Ask for His eye salve so that you can see the deception. Stay strong in prayer. Do not fall for the flattery of the world. Do not put your trust in your politicians with the hope that they will improve your life. Let us be a people who separate ourselves unto holiness. Let us focus on The Lord through prayer and He will keep us from the corruption of the world.

I WILL RAISE UP NON-ENTITIES TO DO MY ENDTIME WORK

I will make Myself known to people who were afar and I will draw non-entities to Myself. I will use children and non-entities in your society to do My work and bring Me glory. I will put My Spirit upon them and they will do greater works. This will cause jealousy among those who have forsaken My ways , My own whom I called before. Many of the people I called have failed Me and they are walking in their own ways. Some have made themselves gods and they are stealing My glory. In this season I will raise up men and women who have no pedigree in the society and I will equip them with power. I will do this to provoke many to jealousy so that they will turn their hearts to Me but many will criticise and backbite those I have chosen for Myself. Instead of them turning to the way of righteousnesss they will choose to walk in pride and they will continue to walk as blind men. You must remember I Am no respecter of persons and I give My grace to whom I desire.

Joel 2:28-29
28 And afterward I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.
29 Even upon the menservants and upon the maidservants in those days will I pour out My Spirit.

Matthew 20:11-15
11 And when they received it, they grumbled at the owner of the estate,
12 Saying, These [men] who came last worked no more than an hour, and yet you have made them rank with us who have borne the burden and the [c]scorching heat of the day.
13 But he answered one of them, Friend, I am doing you no injustice. Did you not agree with me for a denarius?
14 Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this man hired last the same as I give to you.
15 Am I not permitted to do what I choose with what is mine? [Or do you begrudge my being generous?] Is your eye evil because I am good?

Romns 9:25
Just as He says in Hosea, Those who were not My people I will call My people, and her who was not beloved [I will call] My beloved.

I WILL RAISE UP NON-ENTITIES TO DO MY ENDTIME WORK

VICTORY THAT MUST SPUR US ON TO REPENTANCE

VICTORY THAT MUST SPUR US ON TO REPENTANCE

Will God ever grant the wicked grace to scale over a hurdle? Will He allow His enemies to succeed at a point in time? The response is yes. Out of His sovereignty He does things that beat our imagination. Scripture says His ways are higher than our ways likewise His thoughts. The bible records occasions when God allowed His enemies to triumph over His own people. God’s grace is extended to all though we may not have the same degree of grace depending on your calling. He extends His grace to us so that we can fix our relationship with Him whether saved or unsaved.

Genesis 13:13
But the men of Sodom were wicked and exceedingly great sinners against the Lord.

When Lot separated himself from Abraham, he dwelt among the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were exceedingly wicked as the bible puts it. Lot’s choice of the other side of the plain was sensual  but God still had plans for Sodom and Gomorrah. Like Lot many of us make sensual choices but God can still use it for the good of others so that He will make Himself known to the wicked and relent from doing them harm. A Christian can leave next street to The Las Vegas Casino. It may be God’s way of warning the wicked and showing them mercy. Abraham chose the other side of the plain which was relatively less attractive but God fulfilled what He promised him. The treasures of God do not always come packaged.

Genesis 14:1-17
1In the days of the kings Amraphel of Shinar, Arioch of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer of Elam, and Tidal of Goiim,
2 They made war on the kings Bera of Sodom, Birsha of Gomorrah, Shinab of Admah, Shemeber of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, [a]that is, Zoar.
3 The latter kings joined together [as allies] in the Valley of Siddim, which is [now] the [Dead] Sea of Salt.
4 Twelve years they had served Chedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5 And in the fourteenth year, Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him attacked and subdued the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim,
6 And the Horites in their Mount Seir as far as El-paran, which is on the border of the wilderness.
7 Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat, which [now] is Kadesh, and subdued all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who dwelt in Hazazon-tamar.
8 Then the kings of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim, and Bela, that is, Zoar, went out and [together] they joined battle [with those kings] in the Valley of Siddim,
9 With the kings Chedorlaomer of Elam, Tidal of Goiim, Amraphel of Shinar, and Arioch of Ellasar—four kings against five.
10 Now the Valley of Siddim was full of slime or bitumen pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, they fell (were overthrown) there and the remainder [of the kings] fled to the mountain.
11 [The victors] took all the wealth of Sodom and Gomorrah and all the supply of provisions and departed.
12 And they also took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods away with them.
13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew [one from the other side], who was living by the oaks or terebinths of Mamre the Amorite, a brother of Eshcol and of Aner—these were allies of Abram.
14 When Abram heard that [his nephew] had been captured, he armed (led forth) the 318 trained servants born in his own house and pursued the enemy as far as Dan.
15 He divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and attacked and routed them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus.
16 And he brought back all the goods and also brought back his kinsman Lot and his possessions, the women also and the people.
17 After his [Abram’s] return from the defeat and slaying of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh, that is, the King’s Valley.

There was a revolt from the kings of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Shemeber  and Bela after twelve years of slavery under Chedorlaomer king of Elam. This was God’s initial judgment to Sodom and Gomorrah. In their rebellion they waged a war against the kings of Elam, King of the nations, King of Shinar, King of Ellasar which resulted in their defeat as well as the capture of Lot. They were trying to break free from judgment. God in His mercy raised Abraham to set them free. Why did God grant wicked Sodom and Gomorrah victory? It was a way of showing His glory. He also presented an opportunity to avert the destruction that He planned to bring upon them. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah were not wise enough to discern God’s rescue plan. Later they even planned to have carnal knowledge with the angels that had been sent on assignment.

Many times God will allow us to enjoy certain benefits after He has visited us with judgment but many of His people do not even recognize that it is His grace. He blesses us in order to draw us closer to Himself. Many do not fully repent when God takes them through the wilderness experience. God will always test us to see if we are really willing to surrender our hearts in obedience and repentance or we will continue to play the harlot when we are given a breather.  Naturally men are humbled when they go through trials but many forget to offer the sacrifices of brokenness and contriteness when He opens a fountain of blessings. We can only continue to walk in liberty if we continually repent of our sins. When we bear fruits of repentance, His blood continues to cleanse us and we enjoy our fellowship together.

1John1:7
But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt [keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].

In 1 Kings 20, during the days of Ahab, The Lord gave the people of Israel victory over King Ben Hadad  of Syria although Ahab was exceedingly wicked.  The Lord stirred up Ahab to rebel against Ben Hadad because He wanted to glorify Himself and draw His people closer to Himself. God was trying to lift judgment on His people giving them victory over the Syrians. Ahab’s wickedness had brought judgment on God’s people. At the appointed time God gave Israel  victory in order to turn their hearts back to Him.
After God had given Ahab victory, He abused His grace by pursuing more of wickedness. He killed Naboth through the sin of covetousness in 1 Kings 21. God had played to avenge Naboth’s death but Ahab repented and The Lord relented from harming Him but his heart had not been cut. Covetousness had not left his heart.

1 Kings  22:1-3
1Syria and Israel continued without war for three years.
2 In the third year Jehoshaphat king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
3 And [Ahab] king of Israel said to his servants, Do you know that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we keep silence and do not take it from the king of Syria?

God had made peace between Ahab and Ben Hadad  but he was still not content. He wanted to go ahead of God. He had forgotten God gave  him the initial victory. Ramoth in Gilead belonged to Israel. It was theirs rightfully but Ahab wanted to conquer it for fame. Ahab wanted to stand in God’s place by claiming glory. Covetousness was still in his heart and this time he thought he could outsmart God. It was God’s plan to give the whole land to Israel as he had promised Abraham but He wanted Ahab’s heart first. He wanted a total surrender from him.  Ahab went ahead to battle having the backing of 300 prophets whom God had sent delusion. The true counsel which came from Micaiah was rubbished because of the stubbornness of his heart. He eventually died in the battle.

Like Ahab many of us are quick to cry out to God when we are in crisis. We forget that some of the trials that come our way are as a result of God’s judgments. God may discipline us through financial crisis, rebellion among children, unfaithfulness in marriage, famines but how many of us even realize His judgments. The sooner we realize His judgments and repent with our hearts the quicker our deliverance. Sometimes He allows the demons to taunt us. His chastening is aimed at getting us on our knees and also to bring fruits of repentance. We must be broken when we go through these difficult moments and the fruit of repentance that we bear must last.
If we cry out to Him with all our hearts and seek His face in our distress, He will break the yoke from our necks so that we can walk in liberty. When we repent with all our hearts, the heavens will open for us and our oppressors (the demons) will be quelled.

2Chronicles 7:14
If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.

God will grant us deliverance if we are willing to repent and live holy lives before Him but sadly many rebel against Him again when he sets them on the way to success. Many of us repent half heartedly that’s why we keep on falling into the same sins over and over again. If our hearts are not fully surrendered to Him fully striving to live holy lives daily He may grant us victory and success for only a season but our adversaries will come back stronger and harass us. His judgments also await those who persist in rebellion and it is severe.

Hebrews 10:26-27
26 For if we go on deliberately and willingly sinning after once acquiring the knowledge of the Truth, there is no longer any sacrifice left to atone for [our] sins [no further offering to which to look forward].
27 [There is nothing left for us then] but a kind of awful and fearful prospect and expectation of divine judgment and the fury of burning wrath and indignation which will consume those who put themselves in opposition [to God].

May we be people who discern His judgments. May His judgments draw us closer to Him in sincerity. Let us fall on our knees and ask for His mercy daily in sincerity. We are to bear fruits of repentance daily. If our repentance is not genuine we will be overcome by pride and we will fall into sin again. Father grant us the  gift of repentance. Make us people who offer sacrifices of brokenness of heart and contriteness of spirit.

2 Corinthians 7:10
For godly grief and the pain God is permitted to direct, produce a repentance that leads and contributes to salvation and deliverance from evil, and it never brings regret; but worldly grief (the hopeless sorrow that is characteristic of the pagan world) is deadly [breeding and ending in death].
