DISCERNING A PROPHECY

When you read or listen to a prophecy discern. I would like to touch on prophecy from the virtual world ie. social networks. One may have a track record of good prophecies in the past but may veer off with time. So many reasons may account for the sudden drift. It could be a sinful lifestyle, immaturity in the prophetic, seeking fame, itching to hear when God has not spoken, certain beliefs embraced by the fellow in question.

Let me touch on the last one "certain beliefs embraced; There are certain issues in the bible which many in the body do not have the revelation of the Word so it becomes a controversial topic. Instead of edification it turns out to be manmade doctrines and heresies. Preconceived ideas of any biblical truth can lead to a bad prophecy. One may be speaking from his emotions and still think God is speaking. Let us take Prophet Samuel in the house of Jesse. Samuel was moved by sight. Samuel had Saul the first king. Saul stood above all so in Samuel's mind he perceived God was going to go in the same direction. This time God changed His mode of selection.

A prophecy is to be tested in the light of scriptures. There is a difference between testing a prophecy and being a fault finder. Many become confrontational when a prophecy is released. they do not really test so they end up saying what they ought not to say. How can one sharpen his discernment? Through the word of God. The deeper we get in the word the sharper our discernment. The word itself is a discerner. Hebrews 4:12.
We should understand a prophet may speak a word from The Lord and go off track the next time if the conditions I have listed are present. Remember how Peter revealed Christ the Messiah. The next moment he was standing in the way of His crucifixion. If a prophet veers off, he can still repent.
