The bible makes us to understand in Hebrews 12 that Jesus endured the shame and pain of the cross because of the joy set before Him. Before an athlete completes a marathon, he has to gasp for air especially as he gets close to the finishing line. He may feel like fainting yet he endures to the end. He knows should he slack he would have run in vain.
If we are going to receive the crown God has promised us we have to overcome all the obstacles in this life. Thankfully God is with us to work in us the work of endurance. We are not alone.
Prayer: Father, work in me the work of endurance in order to finish the race that has been set before me.
